ALBUM REVIEW: Dave Evans – Judgement Day
- By Mucka Jay
I recently received the Dave Evans album Judgement Day and therefore decided to do my first ever album review.
From the off I knew this album was going to be fantastic, well its AC/DC’s original singer after all! Kicking off the album is a track that is definitely in my top 3 called “We Don’t Dance To Your Song” which straight away shouts to me that I am going to enjoy listening to this. The riffs and lyrics are original but there is still that awesome feel of AC/DC in there.
Another of my favourite tracks off the album has to be “You Talkin’ To Me“. This track is full of energy, has a little taste of Lemmy and early Bon Scott mixed together which makes one hell of a combination!
The guitar riffs in “Helluva Night” are amazing. The album’s title track “Judgement Day” really shows off Dave’s talents. The song has its own sound that makes this one well worth listening to over again. The song has a dirty feel to it and the lyrics are fantastic. My favourite song off the album and one that could easily become a classic.
I was very surprised by the cover song on the end of this album. When I saw it on the CD I immediately though oh another cover of House of the Rising Sun!!! I was very impressed with this cover though. Nothing like the original. Dave and the band really took the song and made it their own in so many ways. The start of the song is done a cappella in which you can really hear the strength of Dave’s voice. When the rest of the band kick in the guitar riffs are top quality and you can tell the band are playing with a passion. A great track covered in a great way.
Dave has done a fantastic job of creating an album off his own back but with just enough of a taste of AC/DC in there for us all to enjoy.![]()
