ALBUM REVIEW: Peepshow – Brand New Breed
- By SJRoxx
Artist: Peepshow
Title: Brand New Breed
Release Date: 29th January 2012
Peepshow‘s second album is a slight step in direction from their debut. As the glam image as been toned down a little, the sound has also veered away from a full on cock rock sound, with a bit more sophistication added to the bands sound.
’Brand New Breed’ has a distinctive modern sound, great production and other instruments added to the mix of shredding guitars, but still maintaining some big anthems, as on the opening two songs that kick in all guns blazing. Songs like ‘Only a Dream‘ and ‘Irriversable’ are beautiful haunting power ballads, that shows some great song arrangements and the guys musical talents.
Cock rock returns on ‘Trouble, ‘Live Free or Die’ and ‘All or Nothing’ which also have some good use of echoes and backing vocals and plenty of harmonies and cracking solo’s. The keyboards and orchestral bits on the album add depth and help produce a fuller atmospheric sound on most of the songs. Some of the songs sound like the way Hardcore Superstar sound on later albums when they go for a heavier sound.
Overall its really impressive how they have taken the best of old and new music and blended it into a solid original sound for themselves. ![]()
