EP REVIEW: Velvet Star – All Or Nothing
- By SJRox
Artist: Velvet Star
Title: All Or Nothing
Genre: Rock
Release Date: 29th October 2012
Early last year Velvet Star brought us their 5 star debut album (read our review here) and now the follow up EP ‘All Or Nothing‘.
‘Bring It On‘, Bring It On… The drums roll, the riff kicks in and we head off into a great energetic catchy opener. You can just imagine front man Danny Jones strutting around the stage to this and Ginna pounding the drums. ‘Crash & Burn’ is a slightly slower, bluesy, groovier tune, as with most of their songs bass heavy to the fore from Corey Jones. This one will have your foot tapping and body swaying, another catchy chorus, a full beefy start to a fantastic guitar solo. Relatively new to the band, guitarists Mewsy and Robbie shine throughout.
‘Overrated’ has grown on me, it’s a 100 miles an hour ‘caffeine bomb’ of a punk rock song. ‘Glad You’ve Gone’ takes us back into more conventional rock territory, again full of energy, another pacey throbbing song, that struts along and will have you singing the chorus for days afterwards!
Something for every rocker out there to bounce around to from this great band. Always a fantastic live band, lets hope this EP moves Velvet Star onto further success and they don’t crash & burn. Only 4 songs on the EP leaves me wanting more, so what the hell I’ll replay the EP and then dig out ‘In The Face Of Vanity…’ ![]()
