Breaking Bands Festival went live in 2015 for the first time after 12 months of hard work and sweat trying to make an event that was a bit of everything. With the organisers putting the people and the bands first rather than wondering how much money could be made this was a very long and interesting road.
After a sell out crowd got to see 33 amazing performances on the main stage as well as all the entertainment on the buskers stage, the hard work has been recognised by the UK Festival Awards.
Breaking Bands Festival has been nominated in the following FOUR categories…
Best Small Festival
Best New Festival
Grass Roots Award
These nominations prrove that new festivals supporting local and national independent bands and artists can be created from grass roots.
With preparations well under way for 2016 and the final band announcement due on 31st October, this news comes at a great time for the festival and the buzz since the news was announced has been amazing. The response from bands that played this year, those who are playing next year and those who bought tickets have all been extremely supportive in their replies across social media. Organiser Jason McGuire said ‘these nominations, and if we win, awards will be dedicated everyone who made it possible. Not just the bands for playing, the sponsors and media for promotion, the staff for making sure it all went smoothly but the fans who purchased tickets and helped put Breaking Bands Festival on the map.’
