A few weeks ago a band called Diamond Lil approached TBFM and asked for some airplay of their forth coming debut Ep “Misfits of Society”. Being a misfit myself, I thought I would give it a go.
Diamond Lil are a 4 piece hard rock band from Birmingham who have had a small number of line-up changes before reaching that solid gold feel which has brought them to release this stunning EP.
The EP starts out solid but quite mellow for a hard rock band with a track called Bottom of a Glass. I have tried my best to pin-point the sound but I think we have stumbled across something unique in the music industry with Diamond Lil… yes a sound like no other bands.
Their bio says they are influenced by the likes of Buckcherry, Black Stone Cherry, Alter Bridge and many others and yes the Ep does give a hint of all of these but in a more original way which is a breath of fresh air. There is more than enough bands taking on the sound and style of their idols so a massive well done to Diamond Lil for daring to be different.
The other 5 tracks on the EP get you ready to rock hard as the tracks become more deep and heavier. The title track, Misfits of Society reaches the bar and really has a great impact on the whole EP. My favourite track as to be track 5 called “Reach”. The guitar riffs and solo’s are amazing and the track is a very fast paced track that will get everyone rocking.
This is a band I will be looking forward to seeing many times in the future.
Diamond Lil’s EP launch is being held at the O2 Academy 3 in Birmingham on Saturday 23rd February 2013, entrance is just £5. Check the event details by clicking here.
