UK hard rockers Godsized are set to self release their highly anticipated debut album, ‘Time’, on 22nd April.
Packed full of southern grooves, tasty solos and hook driven melodies, ‘Time’ is a powerhouse of raw songs that are as dirty as they are heavy. Recorded by the band’s live sound engineer, Shaun Streams, in their rehearsal room, the album has huge amounts of natural energy and feel. Unsatisfied by modern recording techniques, the band went fully old-school, with much of the recording being made up of full-band live takes, adding a distinctively unadulterated, human quality –something rare in heavy rock these days. When cranked you’re almost fooled into thinking you’re in the room with the band themselves, sat in between two double stack 4 x 12s.
Godsized have always set out to make music they love, with no agenda or urge to jump on a bandwagon. They take influence from Black Sabbath riffs, Led Zeppelin songwriting and the soul of Free, but the end result is something much heavier, with comparisons often made to Corrosion of Conformity, Down, Black Label Society and Alter Bridge.
Since forming in 2009, Godsized have released two highly acclaimed EPs and performed at Bloodstock, Hammerfest, Bulldog Bash, Download Festival and numerous festivals across Europe, all on their own steam. The band landed the main support slot for Black Label Society in 2011, off the back of Zakk Wylde hearing and loving their ‘Brothers in Arms’ EP. Coupled with supports with Life of Agony and My Ruin and numerous headline runs, Godsized have picked up legions of dedicated fans across Europe, winning them over with their killer live performances.
In March, on the eve of their 11th Hour European Headline tour, the band premiered their new video for ‘Heavy Load’ on Metal Hammer’s website, as well as putting the track up for free download for fans. Check out the video –
