Following on from Mucka Jay’s review of the awesome Evil Scarecrow 2 gigs in 24 hours (click here to read) Mucka even had the chance to pin down Brother Pain and Dr Hell for a quick chat. Here is what was said…
Mucka: You have had one hell of a 2012 guys. I have seen you 6 times this year so I think I can say I am officially a stalker of the band! What has been your highlight of 2012?
ES: Very ugly stalkers! Hammerfest, Ibiza and the Metalhammer boat party was way up there as one of the best. It was so much fun and we would go again! Its so hard to pick one gig.
Mucka: So Evil Scarecrow in Ibiza, the idea of metal bands playing in this well known dance music resort. How did that go?
ES: Ibiza was very good actually. We thought the same thing, it would be frighteningly full of chavs who wanted to beat us up. I think they were more scared of us really. My favourite was running through the street dressed as Doctor Hell to go back to the hotel to get some hair adapters and had 3 reactions. One from the locals who said I was brilliant and how much they liked my hat. The seconds was from the dancey chavvy type people who were just scared, and just screamed and ran away. Third was from anyone who was relatively rock and they just said “you alright mate?”. It was good, very warm!
Mucka: Your last albums came out in 2009 and you have fired out a lot of new material on stage since then. Can you give us some indication as to when a new album will surface?
ES: You can sign up for the pledge music Evil Scarecrow page for more information. We have written all of the music and it is going to be the most amazing album ever. People will have to download new ears to listen to it, it will be just amazing.
Mucka: Hinckley is a small town over run by chavs and dance music. What can Evil Scarecrow bring to the town and what should they expect?
ES: We will covert everybody by the time we leave. They will all start painting their houses black with pentagrams on the front, riding broomsticks and crucifying each other in our name. They will build a giant Evil Scarecrow temple with effigies of us. There will be a massive suicide in our name. They will start off small, burning their Burberry caps and then end up with a massive uprise with nothing left but Evil Scarecrow fans and black buildings.
Steve: Where did you find the inspiration for the characters within Evil Scarecrow?
ES: Littlewoods catalogue, Blue Peter, Biker Grove, Newsround. I think we used the left part of our brain as thats the thinking part.
