Dead Frequency are a Glam Punk band from The Midlands, UK. Playing a mixture high-energy pop/punk and glam-influenced rock, the band have influences ranging from Green Day to Van Halen with a bit of The Darkness thrown in for good measure. Vocalist Matti Fantasi chats to TBFM’s Mucka Jay…
What was the last album you purchased?
I brought a Ratt, Cinderella and Europe album at the same time from a bike festival we played. Total badass!
If your music could be used in an advert on TV, what would you most like it to be advertising?
Most likely some form of eye-liner as I tend to wear a bit on stage or Pepsi Max just like Kiss did.
If you were to do a cover of a song, what would it be and why?
If we weren’t so mediocre it would 100% have to be hot for teacher by Van Halen as it represents everything that is good and fun about rock music. It also gives me a chance to pretend I’m David Lee Roth for a few minutes.
Dead or alive, which band would you most like to co-headline with?
Green Day, Kiss, Van Halen or Motley Crue would be great.
What has been the most memorable moment in your musical career so far?
Being hand picked as main tour support to Ska Punk legends [Spunge] by the band themselves for their 20th anniversary tour last year. After being a little fan boy of the guys since 2004 this really was a dream come true. It is still a bit weird that they are now just my friends who I message and chat to.
If you had the opportunity to change something about the music industry, what would it be?
I like to see more guitar driven bands in the charts and for people to go back to buying CD’s as opposed to downloads again.
