We’re here at Hard Rock Hell, I’m Mucka Jay and I’ve been joined by a band who’s been secretly added to the list this Sunday. Girls, you’ve literally just been added to the list to play this Sunday, main stage, how did that come about?
Basically one of bands pulled out, that was playing on Sunday afternoon, and we got a text on what, Wednesday night, asking if we would do it. So we couldn’t really say no, it’s too good an opportunity.
And you were already in the area I think you said last night?
Me (Heather) and Hannah were gonna come anyway for the weekend just for a holiday.
You were here for Hard Rock Hell V in 2011 after getting through the Highway 2 Hell competition. I heard a rumour that you had a bit of a chat with Girlschool. Did they give you any good advice?
They’d actually heard of us, which was such a compliment. We spied them in the canteen eating their dinner, too scared to go up and talk to them! But then as they were leaving, we were like no, we have to go and give them a CD so we went up to them and they were really nice. So normal and so cool.
So it’s been a year since we last chatted to you. How has 2012 been for you? What have you been up to?
Well we played Ibiza, Hard Rock Hell Ibiza… We did Lesfest… We’ve still been promo’ing the first album I guess but actually the past few months we’ve been keeping it quiet, not doing as many gigs, just because we’re working on our second album at the moment. But obviously we got the call to do this so you cant say no, but we had been keeping it a bit quiet up until now.
So can you give us a bit of info about album number 2? Name of it? When it’s due for release?
Well, we’re still writing it so hopefully that will be finished by the end of 2012. We will be recording early spring, hopefully be out in spring. I think its long overdue.
Yeah we’ve been playing Whoot Woo for way too long now!
Yea! So have we haha! We’re sick of playing the same songs!!
It’s a fantastic song, it’s my favourite anyway!
Yea, it’s cool when people have never heard it before. They come up to you and its all fresh you know.
Well you’ve gotta have a crowd song, an interactive song. So you say you’ve almost finished writing the album – is there a stand out song for a single release?
Erm, not as yet. They’re all kinda getting there; we’re chopping and changing what we’re gonna call them. The lyrics are probably the last thing we do. The theme changes, it’s a bit up in the air at the moment, so just watch this space!
So we wont be hearing any of the new tracks this weekend then?
Sadly no! They’re not prepared fully yet so..
Is there anything set up for next year? Any big festivals?
The only thing we have for next year is like in January with a band called The Sword, from Texas. We’re playing King Tuts with them on the 7th January, but that’s all we have so far. I guess it all boils down to after we release the album, and then we’re going be working really hard. We just want to get it out there!
So how was Ibiza? Your first gig out there…
Our first gig abroad! Sunstroke! I think we stayed in a lot of the time. We were hiding in the shade, we don’t really do sunbathing. The dance music was getting on my nerves a bit so I didn’t stay by the pool very long!
Are there any bands you’ve seen over this weekend in particular that have stood out for you, or any that you’re looking forward to seeing?
Ooh… Looking forward to seeing Testament and Cauldron and Ugly Kid Joe. And really want to see Fozzy.
Have you seen Fozzy before?
Yea, we met Chris Jericho in London a few years back at the Golden God awards. I think we were a bit star-struck because we ended up feeling his studded jacket… ooh…
And did you slip him a CD as well?
No, but I want to. I really want to!
Aw, maybe you’ll get chance this weekend. Thank you very much for taking a few minutes to chat to us and we’ll see you right down the front tomorrow. Roxxy will be there with one or two air guitars.
Oh cool! Thank you.
