One of the most successful rock bands of all time may have called time after more speculation of ill health amongst the band. Australian news website 3AW reporter Peter Ford had been building up a Twitter rumour saying that there was a ‘world exclusive’ that was the ‘end of an amazing era’.
Brian Johnson had said a new album had to be put on hold in 2012 due to ill health of one of the band members, though never confirmed who, and there has been chat of a world tour to celebrate the band’s 40th Anniversary. Johnson told a Florida radio station the anniversary tour was on hold but they were hoping to record next month. AC/DC’s management company are yet to respond to the rumours.
Angus Young denied retirement rumours in 2011 by saying the band were working on new material, telling Sky News: ‘We’ll definitely be back … we’ll just keep at it and next time we’ll try to do it bigger and better.’
On the flip side to these rumours, AC/DC have apparently got a 6 week recording session booked in a studio in Vancouver from 1st May according to ‘The Australian’ (online news).
AC/DC was founded back in 1973 and the band have sold over 200 million albums worldwide. We really hope this is not the way the band finish their careers but if illness is what is stopping them then we wish them all the best.
