TBFM will be 5 years old on 31st May 2014. Every year we get together with some of the bands that have been in great support of the station and we put on a weekend gig. This year, as 5 years is a mini milestone we decided to throw a free weekend party. No cost for tickets at all.
With a line-up of 12 top class bands from rock, punk and metal plus acoustic sets lined up, it was always going to be a full to capacity gig.
We chose to go North this year after 2 Midland parties in a row and have the 5th party at the fantastic Snooty Fox in Wakefield. The venue is big enough for a large crowd and is well run by Malcolm Shipman. Well, its safe to say that this event will be highly successful as we have no tickets left with 4 months to go.
On hearing the news at the weekend of the sold out party, Malcolm was extremely pleased and said he was really looking forward to hosting and welcoming TBFM for what is set to be one of the best events of 2014.
With the line-up almost complete, there is just one band left that is to be announced. This is not just a UK exclusive for 2014 but a WORLD exclusive. This band will not be getting together to play anywhere else this year so those who are coming to celebrate TBFM’s 5th Birthday will really have one hell of a treat!
Mr Badaxe, front man of the band Badaxe will be the compere for the weekend and is said to be purchasing a few thousand tins of Morrisons peas to give away in true Badaxe style! He is also planning a possible one off song that will be written by the crowd from an ideas box over the weekend.
We also have the ‘Space Hopper Olympics’ being prepared. Those who came to last years event (and had the bruises to show for it) will certainly remember the fun we had during Mad Hatter’s ‘STOMPATHON’ so this year we will have a bit of fun with the space hoppers on the Sunday afternoon.
We also have some cash prizes on offer up to £500 can be won.
All in all, the event is something we are all counting down and now we have a full crowd, we can start the big plans on the rest of the weekend. The bash will be live broadcast on TBFM for those who cannot make it and there is also going to be a special DVD of the weekend available to purchase with money going to Teenage Cancer Trust.
One final word… we were at local hotel to the venue ‘Citilodge’ (used to be the Travelodge) and they confirmed there are just 3 rooms available for the weekend of the TBFM bash. They are really looking forward to seeing us all and have said they will help with getting taxi’s for people and make sure local food places are on standby. A really good bunch of staff too. They also have a room with about 30 tables and you can sit down and drink and eat there through the night so it will be a good place to go after Malcolm kicks us all out!
