4 years ago a guy started a campaign to get Rage Against The Machine to number one for Christmas. Many people hated it but 1.3m loved it as they joined the biggest music campaign the UK has ever seen. TBFM backed the campaign from day one and Jon Morter who was the man behind it all vowwed to join the TBFM staff if the song made it to number one… and it did.
Since then many campaigns have sprung up for many different reasons but very few have been successful.
This year, one of the greatest rock bands that ever formed will be 40 years old and have never had a number one in the UK. In fact, AC/DC have not even managed to break the top 10 in the UK which is shocking considering how well loved they are and how many years they have been together.
Well, this year with another TBFM backing there is a chance to make musical history. Steevi Diamond is TBFM’s longest serving DJ and is the spokesman for the AC/DC for Christmas No1 campaign which has really picked up momentum in the past few weeks.
In Steevi Diamond’s words: “For reasons beyond all logical reckoning, have never had a Top 10 single in the UK! This is an injustice that needs to be remedied. So what better way to way say ‘Thank-you for 40 years of amazing rock?’”
SO with hundreds of thousands backing the campaign along with the UK’s number one independent rock radio station, we are all very confident of breaking that top 10 places for the adopted Australian rock band and even get them the number one spot, as they so deserve.
You can download 9 different version of Highway To Hell from itunes and all of them add up at the end of this week so on Sunday we can hear Radio 1 giving AC/DC the top spot at Christmas.
The Australian press have now heard about the campaign too and started putting the news out: Click here to read
Steevi Diamond spoke to Sydney, Australia’s biggest radio station 2gb about the campaign.
