TBFM today announced they will be supporting and fundraising for Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young people with cancer.
We chose TCT after being part of The Headbangers Balls tour with Andy Pilkington and the boys from Reign of Fury supported the charity earlier in 2013. It was a very tough challenge for everyone raising money and gaining awareness for what they do.
Sally Veness, Regional Fundraiser in East Midlands said, “I am very much looking forward to working with the TBFM team on their exciting fundraising ideas and hope their audience get behind them. Support from organisations like TBFM is essential to ensure we can continue to provide vital care to young people with cancer ”.
Mucka Jay, TBFM Station Boss said “I am very proud of the staff at TBFM for all coming together for this charity. In the past we have all worked on our own charities but putting all our eggs in one basket for 2014 we should hopefully raise a tidy sum of cash”.
Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the seven young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them. We want every young person with cancer to have access to this specialist support, no matter where they live.
Traditionally treated alongside children or elderly patients at the end of their lives, young people can feel extremely isolated, some never meeting another young person with cancer. Being treated alongside others their own age can make a huge difference to their whole experience.
Teenage Cancer Trust also educates young people and health professionals about cancer to help improve the speed and quality of diagnosis. Cancer in young people is rare but we want young people to know the common signs so they can seek medical advice if they are worried.
We are starting off 2014 at TBFM with a few special campaigns to kick start the fundraising. The TBFM Magazine has a full page calendar each month for the year with advertising at just £5 (around 50 words). We will donate 50% of the sale of all adverts on the calendar straight to TCT.
Also, we get a lot of goodies from bands big and small. Over the month of December we will be putting a gift package together of an amazing prize of t-shirts, cd’s, posters and a lot more besides that bands have kindly donated to us. We are then offering raffle tickets at just £1 each and we will be drawing the prizes out during the month of January 2014. A lot more events are planned for later in the year too so keep an eye on the website. You can donate to TCT via the TBFM Just Giving page http://www.justgiving.com/tbfmonline
