The latest release from likeable Southampton rockers Hercules Morse, ‘Edge Of Life EP’ proves to be a bit of an earworm. Kicking off with ‘The Education’ you instantly get a feel for what these guys are all about, truly listenable and honest modern rock.
Instantly catchy, the dynamic duo of Steve George and Harry Gardner amasses a beautifully creative synergy of both guitar and vocal work, providing a pleasingly potent punch is Paul Shott on Bass and their very own French Connection, Guillaume ‘Gizmo’ Redonnet-Brown on drums, creates a refreshingly varied and dynamic repertoire for their genre.
Fans of Biffy Clyro, Foo Fighters and even those who enjoy early efforts from a certain ‘blurry’ Britpop band will be in their element, especially as we progress to ‘Good Old Days’ which produces a chorus I’m still struggling to shake off, and ‘All About Me’ which provides a more poignant, reflective side to the affair.
In summary, driving and dynamically rich guitar work reinforced by a tight rhythm section and pacifying vocal harmonies makes this new EP a bold statement of up and coming British rock.
Released 4th December 2015
