From the organisers of the fantastic Hard Rock Hell festivals comes their very own ‘rock factor’ competition ‘Highway To Hell’. Hundreds of bands have been whittled down to the last 19 who play at the Classic Grand in Glasgow on the 5th & 6th October, the winners getting the chance to play at various festivals over the coming year. This years line up is like a who’s who of the underground rock scene as played on TBFM!
Alexa De Strange are a 5 piece pop/rock band of accomplished musicians with rock star credentials from London who will be enjoyed by those who like there music a little on the alternative side. Later in the year they are touring with Toyah, having already opened for the legendary Adam Ant.
Baleful Creed are a four piece classic stoner rock influenced band from Belfast, who came 3rd in the TBFM Factor 2012 competition. With a melodic rock sound & stunning soulful vocals surrounded by a bluesy grungeness & cracking guitar solo’s, they will appeal to a wide audience. This will mark their debut gig outside of Ireland.
Hailing from Brighton Beggarz Fixx are a hard rock/glam metal band blending the trademark sounds of their 80’s idols such as Crue, giving the listeners a big wall of sound. Expect kick ass riffs a plenty, sing along choruses & wailing guitar solo’s, this good time rock n’ roll band even have the look to go with the sleazy sound.
After 7 years of hard work & touring Blue Origin, released their debut album ‘Somnium’ to rave reviews from every corner of the music industry. The boys have great stage presence, a glorious classic rock sound & exceptional musicianship.
Crowsaw play some groovy heavy driving riff based blues tunes that will have the fans feet tapping along. Some substantial guitar solo’s are backed by a solid rhythm section.
Defy All Reason are having a good year having released the excellent Debut EP ‘Every Second Counts’ they have just been confirmed as support to Trucker Diablo in London on Oct 27th at Nambucca. Their sound has a bit of everything bringing heavy riffs, melodic story telling and good ole fashioned rock to the ears of music fans.
Fallen Mafia are a young energetic 4-piece female fronted sleazy glam metal band. They have had a successful & busy year touring with the likes of CrashDiet throughout Europe. Their Motto is Live Fast and Rock Hard & who are we to disagree!
Although Fireroad are a new band, front man Richard Jones, has been around the scene for a while having played with various members of Stereophonics. The bands sound conjures up images of driving along the open roads of the USA.
GutterGodz are a power rock trio from Scotland, who’s sound is hard to pin point, as their wide range in influences suggest, alternative sleazy stoner rock? Whatever it is, it sounds like good ole fashioned rock n’ roll.
They are Honeycomb Love & they do indeed play rock n’ roll. Yes these streetwise punks are as you see them & as it says on the bio, they play it dirty & sleazy. The music is raw & savage, yet the band are tight & professional, they deliver ‘in yer face rock‘!
Maverick are another great sounding riff laden kick ass hard rocking groovy metal band, with the energetic musical sound of an early Skid Row!
A bit heavier are Scare Tactics whose sound has evolved from a love of great music to create a blend of power, groove and melody into a big heavy metal sound.
Screaming Eagles are a great sounding classic rock band in every sense of the way.
Keeping very metal will be Sinocence who are based in Belfast & have a twin guitar attack shredding it up aggressive & loud.
Suicide Tuesday from Notts have a classic high octane sleazy sound, along with experience & a self titled album under their belt, they rock! It’s catchy, foot tapping balls out Rock N’ Roll at it‘s best & they could have easily stepped out of the sunset strip in it’s 80’s hey day.
Scottish 5 piece Temple Dawn play rock with a slightly alternative modern groove to it, intense, melodic & powerful music from talented musicians.
The Blacklist Saints offer up huge hooks and melody & a modern take on classic rock ‘n’ roll. Four well constructed beautiful songs on their debut EP will have you wanting more. We will mention Ginger/Wildhearts as an influence & how pleasing to the ear the bands music is.
All girl band The Kix from Wales have an energetic classic rock sound, fresh & vibrant music with a punky edge that sets them apart from their contemporaries.
Last & not least we have The Senton Bombs, sounding like the bastard son of Backyard Babies & Social Distortion who have been around the circuit for a few years & have two punk injected rock albums under their belt. New album Chapter Zero will be available on STP records soon & we have it on good authority that it is awesome & will blow you away!
